Shakespeare

Why We Love William Shakespeare

At Ivy & Jay, we don’t just admire Shakespeare... we remix him. His poetry has rhythm built in, his sonnets pulse with longing, wit, and wisdom, and his language still dances centuries later. If anyone ever wrote lyrics before music, it was him.

Why Shakespeare Still Matters

Shakespeare’s influence is everywhere: in modern storytelling, language, film, and even pop culture. At Ivy & Jay, we bring his words into the present through music — not to modernize them, but to reveal how alive they still are.

Poem You Didn't Know You Loved

When you think of Shakespeare, you probably don’t think "relatable meltdown".

But in Sonnet 29, the Bard shows us he knew all about envy, self-doubt, and finding hope again.

In this episode of The Poetry Remix, we break down Sonnet 29.

Sonnet 18

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer’s lease hath all too short a date;

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm'd;

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;

Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:

   So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

   So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
